Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Dana

(Blair, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team won their final regular season game on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 decision over the Dana Vikings in Blair, Nebraska. The Defenders bolstered their post-season hopes with a win that lifted their record to 10-6-1 overall and finished the year 7-4-1 in the GPAC.
Dordt's Whitney Elgersma snuck a goal past Dana's Ashley Armstrong off an assist from Noelle Kreykes in the 21st minute for a 1-0 lead and Liz Brand got an unassisted score past Armstrong in the 55th minute for the 2-0 final.
Dordt was outshot 10-6 but managed five shots on goal to Dana's three. Rosalyn De Pooter worked in goal for Dordt to preserve the shutout.
The Defenders missed out on an automatic berth in the NAIA Region III tournament by virtue of a tie for fifth place in the GPAC while Dana squeeked out fourth place with a 8-4 record in the league while Dordt was 7-4-1. Dordt's fate now rests on the longo point system. Points will be tabulated later this weekend with the final two at-larger berths in the six-team NAIA Region III tournament going to the teams with the highest longo rating. Teams will be seeded by longo points.
