Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Doane

(Crete, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Doane Tigers on a rainy Thursday afternoon in Crete, Nebraska.
Doane scored with 34:23 left in the first half on a goal by Kelly Spencer off an assist from Samantha Exstrom on a corner kick. Down 1-0 at half, Dordt scored a little over four minutes into the second half on a Lex Elgersma goal assisted by Kristi Ouwinga. The teams played the rest of regulation without a goal. Dordt fought off a frantic Doane surge at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime.
In overtime the Tigers took advantage of a free kick deep in Dordt territory and Samantha Exstrom banged home the game winner off an assist fron Jordan Hedgecock with 1:27 gone in the extra period.
Dordtwas credited wiht 19 shots, nine of which were on goal while Doane had 11 shots, five of which were on goal. Rosalyn De Pooter made three saves in goal for the Defenders who slip to 7-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the GPAC while Doane is 6-3-1 in the league and 8-6-1 overall.
Dordt hosts Mount Marty on Saturday at 1:00 in their next outing.
