(Sioux City, Iowa) Dordt dropped to 5-3-1 overall and 3-2-1, losing to Morningside 3-0 on Tuesday night in Sioux City. Morningside is currently unbeaten in the Great Plains Athletic Conference in four outings and is 8-2 overall.
The Defenders were held scoreless by Mustang goalkeeper Kelly Berst, who was recently named the NAIA Region III and the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The shutout was Berst's fourth of the year.
Morningside was led offensively by Maggie Kukuk with 2 goals. Marisha Lenz added one, while Makayla Kastens and Kate Goss each recorded an assist for the Mustangs in the win. All of the Morningside goals came in the second half during the 47th, 60th and 68th minutes..
Dordt's Rosalyn De Pooter made four saves in goal including a save off a penalty kick.
Things get no easier for Dordt as they face the GPAC leader Midland Lutheran on Saturday. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
