Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team took a 2-1 Great Plains Athletic Conference decision over the Briar Cliff Chargers on Wednesday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The Chargers scored the first goal of the game on a through pass from Mindie Bauder to Ashley Wehle for the 1-0 lead in the 38th minute of the game. Dordt scored almost immediately with Lex Elgersma scored after a deflection in the 40th minute to make the score 1-1 and that score held till halftime.

The Defenders then took the lead on a left side drive by Kate Du Mez in the 67th minute for the 2-1 lead and the eventual win. Dordt's Rosalyn De Pooter registered the win in goal with five saves while Mikayla Martins was the keeper for Briar Cliff, allowing two goals and making two saves. Briar Cliff outshot the Defenders 11-9 for the game.

Dordt is now 3-1 and 1-0 in the conference while Briar Cliff is 3-2 and 0-1 in the league. Dordt hosts Concordia this Saturday at 1:00.
