Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Hastings

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team turned in a 3-0 win over the Hastings College Broncos Wednesday afternoon in NAIA Region III soccer play and advance to the semifinals of the tournament with the win.

Dordt scored with :01 left on the clock in the first half when Lindsay Baker found the net off a pass from Kate Du Mez in a melee in front of the net. The Defenders struck immediately in the second half, scoring with 1:04 gone in the period on a goal by Abbie Soodsma where she drove a shot off a rebound into the net. The Defenders got one for insurance late when Suzanne Clark scored on a direct kick with 14:07 left in the game.

Dordt had five shots on goal while Hastings had two in a game played with winds of 15-25 miles per hour. Mallory Foster made two saves in goal for Dordt while the Hastings goalkeeper, Sarah Soverein, had two saves for the game.

Dordt has now shut Hastings out twice this season, beating the Broncos back in September by a 5-0 score. Hastings ends their season 6-11-2 while Dordt advances to the semifinals against Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa on Monday at 4:00. The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday night with the Region III champion advances to the NAIA National Soccer Championships held November 15-21 in Olathe, Kansas.
