Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Doane

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team won their second game in a row to close the regular season with a 5-0 win over Doane College on Parent's Weekend on the Dordt College campus.
The Defenders struck just over five minutes into the game when Kate Du Mez crossed to Heather Kooistra with 39:57 remaining in the first half. Anne Oppeneer scored nearly 25 minutes later on a breakaway with 14:28 remaining in the half. The Defenders then scored one with under a minute left in the half when Abbie Soodsma got a pass and dribbled in and lofted it to the left corner for a 3-0 lead.
The second half was more of the same with Dordt scoring almost immediately with 42:43 left when Sarah Sikkema scored off a deflection of a shot by Soodsma. The exclamation point came seven minutes later when Anna Bos scored on her third shot of the day at 35:18 remaining.
Mallory Foster and Leah Wolthuizen combined for the shutout with each making one save as Doane got two shots on goal. Alicia Exstrom faced 23 shots and made 15 saves.
The Lady Defenders are now 7-5 in the conference and 7-9-1 overall while Doane goes to 3-7-1 in the league and 3-12-1 overall. The top four finishers in the GPAC receive automatic berths in the NAIA Region III tournament with the fifth and sixth spots in the tournament awarded to the teams with the highest point totals in the longo point determination system.
