(Sioux Center, Iowa) In the season opener the Lady Defenders soccer team lost to the College of Saint Mary Flames by a final score of 2-1. College of Saint Mary scored the first goal of the game on a high drive by Jen Haney with 19:27 left to go in the first half. Dordt answered back with an unassisted goal by Sarah Sikkema with 7:13 left in the half.

In the second half Daniella Padilla scored the deciding goal with 33:22 remaining in the game. Dordt College was outshot 12-8.

Dordt College's goal keeper Mallory Foster recorded 10 saves.
