Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Concordia

(Seward, NE) The Dordt College Defender men’s soccer team made an Eric Grootenboer goal stand up for a 1-0 win over Concordia in Seward, Nebraska on Saturday, October 5. The win was Dordt’s first of the Great Plains Athletic Conference season.
The teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half with Concordia getting two shots on goal in the first half and Dordt didn’t get a shot on frame in the first 45 minutes of play. The Defenders broke through when Grootenboer scored on a corner kick in the 55th minute.
With a 1-0 lead the Defenders were able to hold off the Concordia charges, weathering a 12 shot barrage with Joey Rasnic getting the shutout in goal while making three saves. Dordt was outshot on goal 3-2 for the game and Concordia was credited with 24 shots overall.
Dordt is 3-7-1 this season and 1-1-1 in GPAC play while Concordia is now 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the GPAC. Dordt will host Briar Cliff on Wednesday.
