Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Missouri Baptist

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team pulled away from a 1-1 halftime tie to defeat Missouri Baptist 4-1 on Saturday in non-conference soccer in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Dordt scored the final three goals of the game in a 13 minute span to seal its third win of the season.

Eric Grootenboer scored on a header in the 31st minute to give Dordt the lead but Missouri Baptist had an answer in the form of a Gavin Cuddy shot with under a minute to go in the first half.

Josh Brinkherhoff started the scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal in the 70th minute and Derick Sackey knocked one into the lower right corner off an assist by Grootenboer in the 79th minute. Brinkherhoff put the game away with a goal in the 83rd minute to make the final 4-1. The second goal was off an assist by Cameron Stuive.

Dordt was able to control much of play and outshot the visitors 14-7 and put seven shots on frame to four for the visitors. Jon Brinkherhoff made three saves in goal for the Defenders.

Dordt will travel to Mount Mercy on Wednesday, September 12 for more non-conference soccer.
