Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Avila

(Kansas City, Missouri) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team ran their season opening winning streak to six with a come from behind 2-1 win over Avila (Missouri) in a game played Saturday, September 17 in Kansas City.

Avila struck for a goal in the first half on a Ben Dlogelecki goal and that stood till halftime. Dordt got the equalizer with a Josh Brinkerhoff score in the second half and then took the lead for good when David Miedema scored to make it 2-1.

Dordt out-shot the hosts 10-8 and both teams had three shots on goal. Brian Verwolf kept goal and made two saves as Avila dropped to 4-4 this season.

Dordt will face Morningside in a non-conference match this week Wednesday, September 21.
