Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Hastings

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team lost a 3-0 decision to Great Plains Athletic Conference champion Hastings College on Saturday, October 29 in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The Defenders surrendered a goal in the 12th minute by Jordan Green off a long pass from Derek Prinz. Nate Polak made it 2-0 on a free kick from 25 yards out in the 21st minute and the half ended with the score still 2-0.

Polak figured into the final goal of the game as well with an assist to Green in the 79th minute to close the scoring.

Hastings put eight shots on goal while the Defenders had one. The Broncos outshot the Defenders 18-4 for the game.

Dordt's Brian Verwolf made five saves in goal while Cody Poteat got the shutout for the Broncos with one save.

Dordt finishes the regular season with a 12-6 record and was 4-6 in the GPAC. Hastings closes the year with a 17-1 record and is 10-0 in GPAC play. Both teams will play in the GPAC tournament which starts on Tuesday, November 1. Eight teams qualify for the field with the winner of the tournament earning a spot in the NAIA National Tournament. Pairings for the event will be announced late this evening.
