Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux Center, Iowa) For the third game in a row the Dordt Defender men's soccer team was on the short end of a 2-1 decision in double overtime. The Defenders fell in GPAC play Tuesday afternoon to the Briar Cliff Chargers in a game played in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders scored in the 70th minute when Phil Nywening beat it past Briar Cliff's Kyle King for an unassisted goal.
Briar Cliff answered eight minutes later when Bill Kurtenbach headed a cross off a corner kick in for the equalizer. The teams played even for the remaining twelve minutes of overtime and the first ten minute overtime period.
Briar Cliff finally made good with a Chase Beiermann goal in the 105th minute for the win, dropping Dordt to 3-4 in league play with three games to go.
Dordt outshot the visitors 10-3 on goal with Brian Verwolf taking the loss in goal. Briar Cliff's King made nine saves in preserving the win. Briar Cliff is now 3-4 in the league and 6-6-1 overall. Dordt is 11-4 and 3-4 in the conference and will face Doane in Crete, Nebraska on Saturday night.
