Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Midland University

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Midland Warriors came from behind to defeat the Dordt Defenders in men's soccer action on Saturday, October 15 in Sioux Center, Iowa by a 2-1 score. It was the second loss for the Defenders in overtime as Midland scored in the 109th minute to take their fourth win of the conference season.
The Defenders got on the board with a goal in the 52nd minute by Josh Brinkerhoff off a crossing pass from Brady Van Holland towards the back post which Brinkheroff headed past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
Midland wasted no time in evening the score with Alan Craig getting an unassisted goal in the 58th minute for the equalizer.
Brinkerhoff had a chance at a game winner in regulation that the Midland keeper saved. The Defenders also got two shots off in the first overtime that were wide and high by Brinkerhoff and David Riley respectively.
Midland took three shots in the second extra session with Craig finding the back of the net with just over a minute left to play. Midland won despite playing a man down after losing Jordan Schaefer to a red card in the 99th minute.
Midland outshot Dordt on goal 11-4 with Lewis Wilcox making three saves for the win. Dordt's Brian Verwolf made nine saves in goal for the Defenders.
Dordt is now 3-3 in the league with four games to go and Midland improves to 4-3. The Defenders are 11-3 overall and Midland is 6-7-1. Dordt will host Briar Cliff on Tuesday afternoon, October 18 in its next action.
