Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Morningside

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Three Erick Ortiz goals in the second half triggered the Morningside men's soccer win over the Dordt Defenders on Wednesday night at Sioux Center, Iowa in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.
Dordt took the lead in the sixth minute on a Josh Brinkerhoff goal on an assist by David Riley. The goal stood up the rest of the half and Dordt was up 1-0 at the intermission. Ortiz found the goal on three unassisted goals in the 67th, 69th and 84th minutes to give the Mustangs the lead. An Alex Geylense goal off a Devin Williams cross in the 86th minute made it interesting but Dordt couldn't muster more than a Brinkerhoff shot in the closing minute.
Dordt was outshot 10-5 with all of their shots on goal. Morningside had five shots on goal with Dordt's Brian Verwolf getting two saves. Morningside's Daniel Whithorn made three saves and got the win in goal.
Morningside is 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the league while Dordt is 0-1 and 2-4-1 overall. Dordt will face Hastings on Saturday at 3:15 in its next outing.
