Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Waldorf

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team earned its first victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Waldorf in non-conference play on Tuesday in Sioux Center. The Defenders got the golden goal a little over three minutes into the first extra session when Alex Geylense cashed in on when he played his shot over the Waldorf keeper.

Offensive opportunities were at a premium for both teams with Dordt getting outshot on goal 6-3. Geylense's shot was the first for either team in the extra session. Geylense's goal was the first score for Dordt in over 200 minutes of play. Dordt played to a 0-0 tie with Ashford on Saturday.

Brian Verwolf stopped six shots in goal and the Dordt defense posted its second shut-out in a row.

Dordt will travel to Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday for its next outing.
