Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Ashford

One day after suffering a 4-3 loss to Cardinal Stritch the Dordt College Defender men's soccer team stood toe to toe with nationally ranked Ashford (Iowa) and played to a 0-0 double overtime stalemate.

Dordt was outshot in the contest by a 23-13 margin and the visitors put 16 shots on goal while Dordt had five. Dordt's Brian Verwolf got credit for the 110 minute shutout with the 16 saves while Ashford split the goalkeeping duties with Daniel James and Nick Roman.

Dordt played the final 22 minutes of regulation and the overtimes a man down as Joe Lammers who was sent off with his second yellow card of the match for hard fouls in the 68th minute. In all there were 20 fouls called on Ashford and 16 on Dordt in what was the second match in 24 hours for both teams.

Dordt will host Waldorf (Iowa) on Tuesday, August 31 at 4:00.
