(Sioux Center) With an opportunity to move as high as sixth in the conference standings, the Defenders were unable to mount an attack and lost a 1-0 decision against the Midland Lutheran Warriors on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. The loss drops Dordt College into eighth place in the league.

The Warriors scored in the 18th minute on a Danny Pollard goal and that score stood up the rest of the way as Dordt got out shot 15-6. Brian Verwolf made six saves for the Defenders while Eric Vrba recorded two saves for Midland Lutheran.

Dordt is no 9-9 overall and 5-7 in the league while the Warriors passed them into seventh place with the win and are 5-6-1 in the loop and 7-8-1 overall.

Dordt will travel to Hastings for the quarterfinal round of the GPAC tournament on Tuesday, November 3. The complete pairings for the eight-team tournament will be released late tonight.
