Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Dana

(Blair, NE) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team saw their three game winning streak severed on the the road by the Dana Vikings in Great Plains Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Blair, Nebraska. Dana won the game 2-1 in overtime to improve to 4-1-1 in the conference.

Dana found the net in the 21st minute on Taylor Martin's goal. Dordt's David Miedema was equal to the task with a goal in the 41st minute or an assist by Phil Nywening and the next 49 minutes were scoreless. Dordt suffered a blow near the end of regulation when Brian Verwolf was knocked out of the game on a collision and couldn't return. Dana won the game in the 95th minute when Thor Brown scored.

Dordt was outshot on goal 10-4 with Brian Verwolf recording seven saves and allowing one goal and Kurt Franje had one save and one goal. Chris Allen made three saves in goal for the Vikings.

Dordt is 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the GPAC at the midpoint of the conference schedule while Dana is 4-1-1 in the league and 7-2-2 overall. Dordt will host Briar Cliff on Tuesday.
