September 30, 2009
(Sioux Center) For the second year in a row the Dordt College Defenders and Northwestern Red Raider men's soccer teams played to a 2-0 final in their Great Plains Athletic Conference match. It was the Defenders' turn to reverse the loss from last season and take the win on their home field on Wednesday, September 30 by making two first half goals stand up.
Dordt scored in the 35th minute when Roland Osae-Oppong fought through the Northwestern defense for an unassisted goal. The score was Osae-Oppong's first of the season. Less than ten minutes later the Defenders scored again, this time on an assist from Osae-Oppong to Joe Lammers who scissor kicked home the pass for a 2-0 lead.
