Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux City, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team scored a 1-0 win over the Briar Cliff Chargers in Great Plains Athletic Conference play Tuesday afternoon in a game played in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Defenders snapped a five game losing streak with a 1-0 win, avenging a non-conference loss to Briar Cliff in early September. Phil Nywening (Freshman; Thamesville, Ontario) scored the unassisted game winner in the 88th minute of play to get on the board.
Jordan Huisken (Junior; Chandler, Minnesota) recorded six saves in goal for the Defenders and faced a total of 15 shots. Dordt College managed seven shots with four of them on frame.
Dordt improves to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the GPAC. In all, the Defenders have been involved in six one-goal games this season. Briar Cliff is now 4-6-1 and 1-5 in the league. The two teams played a non-conference game in early September which Briar Cliff won 2-1.
Dordt travels to Jamestown, North Dakota to face Jamestown College on Saturday, October 11 in a 3:15 start.
