(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men stumbled in non-conference soccer against Bethel University (Minnesota) on Thursday night in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The two teams played a scoreless first half before Eric Johnson snapped the drought for the Royals with a goal off an assist by Randon Sommars with five minutes gone in the second half. The goal wasa long curving shot from outside the 18 yard line. Bethel then got a goal for insurance in the 75th minute when Brandon Peplinski got a goal past Dordt keeper Jordan Huisken for the 2-0 final off an assist from Johnson. The goal came off a deflection off the goalkeeper's hands.

Huisken made two saves in goal for the Defenders while Kevin Kelly and Nick Kantor combined on the shutout for Bethel.

Dordt was outshot 15-14 and falls to 3-2-1 while Bethel improves to 3-6 and have now won two in a row. Dordt faces Hastings on Saturday in Hastings in a conference contest.
