Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College played to a 1-1 tie with Briar Cliff Wednesday night in Great Plains Athletic Conference men's soccer.

Briar Cliff scored first near the midpoint of the first half for a 1-0 lead off a goal by Dan Hiserote. He was assisted by Cory Rogers in the 22ned minute. The Defenders caught a break when the Chargers scored an own-goal in their net to tie the game 1-1 in the 40th minute.

With offensive chances at a premium, neither team was able to score in the second half or overtime and the game ended in a tie. Both teams had five shots on goal with Jordan Huisken working in goal for the Defenders and registered four saves.

Dordt goes to 2-1-1 while Briar Cliff is now 1-3-1. This marks the second year in a row where the two teams have played to overtime with Dordt gaining a 2-1 win in 2006 at Sioux City, Iowa. Dordt will host Concordia on Saturday, September 15 at 3:00. The game will be the second of a women's-men's doubleheader.
