Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Martin Luther

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men's soccer team scored a 4-0 victory over Martin Luther (Minnesota) Tuesday afternoon on a windy, chilly Dordt College soccer field.
The Defenders scored with 14:53 left in the first half when Dan Koolhaas stole the ball at midfield and ran it up before finding Mike Oppeneer with a through pass. Oppeneer eluded a defender and knocked it past a charging Martin Luther goalkeeper.
The 1-0 lead held until the second half when Brett Van Andel headed a high crossing pass from Steve Shannon in with 42:14 left in the game. Will Bruinsma scored his fifth goal of the season with 26:08 left when Mike Oppeneer sent him a corner kick that he put in acrobatically with a leaping kick.
The exclamation for the Defenders came with :47 left when Bruinsma assisted Van Andel for his second score of the day making it 4-0.
Dordt outshot the visitors 9-5 with Brandon Vander Wel and Jordan Huisken combining for the shutout in goal for the Defenders. Vander Wel stopped two shots in the first half and Huisken three shots in the second.
Dordt holds a 10-1-2 advantage against the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference member and have not lost a game at home in eight tries against the non-conference foe from New Ulm, Minnesota.
