Dordt College Men's Soccer vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) Dordt College opened the 2006 soccer season with a 2-1 win over the Mount Marty Lancers. The game, played in Yankton, was tied 1-1 at half time.
The Defenders got their first goal of the night off the foot of Mike Oppeneer as he was assisted by Ryan Coon in the seventh minute.
A goal by Mount Marty's Jose Garcia four minutes later tied the game.
Mike Oppeneer figured into the game winner as well by assisting a Quentin Glashower header off a corner kick by Brett Van Andel. Van Andel's kick was headed by Tim Walstra to Oppeneer who sent it to Glashower to break the 1-1 tie in the 77th minute.Van Andel, Walstra and Oppeneer were all credited with an assist on the play. The win was the ninth for the Defenders in the 10 game series with the Lancers.
Brandon Vander Wel worked the distance in goal, facing eight shots, surrendering one goal.
The contest was a non-conference tilt.
