Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Iowa State

(Sioux Center, Iowa (Vernon Arena)) The Dordt College Blades gave up two goals in the early stages of the first period and could not rally back, falling 4-0 to the Iowa State Cyclones this evening in a MACHA Silver West conference match-up. With the loss the Blades fall to 2-10 on the season and 0-5 in the conference while Iowa State improves to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the MACHA.
Johnny Domina struck first for the 'Clones when his shot rang off the left post and then bounced in the goal off the back of Dordt netminder Riley Braun at 17:32 in the first period. Nick Appel made it a 2-0 game at 16:55 when he banged home a rebound. Jordan Kanter extended the lead to three goals when he swatted a rebound out of the air at 11:12 in the first period.
The Blades were outshot 15-5 in the second period but Dordt netminder Riley Braun turned away all 15 shots to keep it a 3-0 game after 40 minutes of action.
Johnny Domina picked up his second goal of the night with 6:23 remaining in the third period for the 4-0 final.
Dordt College was 0-3 with the man advantage and the visiting Cyclones were 0-6 on the power play.
Iowa State outshot Dordt 45-22 for the contest with Iowa State netminder Jake Petsch picking up the shut-out.
The Blades have now lost ten in a row and have been shut out in the last three contests.
The Blades will host Iowa State again on Saturday, November 16 at 4:15 pm in the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center.
