Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Iowa State

(Ames, Iowa) The Dordt College Blades surrendered two goals in the first period and three goals in the second in falling 7-1 to the Iowa State Cyclones in a conference game played Friday night (January 18) in Ames, Iowa. The Blades fall to 3-13 with the loss while the Cyclones improve to 12-2.
Iowa State knocked in their first marker of the game less than two minutes into the contest with a Kean Ludvicek tally. James Werner made it a 2-0 game with a goal at 10:31 leaving the Blades trailing 2-0 at the first intermission.
Goals by Gribben, Werner and Metli in the second period of action made it a 5-0 game after 40 minutes of play.
A power play goal by Gillogly at 15:14 of the third, followed by a Ludvicek short-handed tally at 9:29 made it 7-0. A power play goal by Dordt's Eric Huitsing with 4:09 left to play ended the Iowa State shut-out bid. Brandon Fast and Eric Grootenboer picked up helpers on the Huitsing goal.
Mike Ness had 25 saves in picking up the win in net for the 'Clones while Dordt's Riley Braun turned away 42 of Iowa States' 49 shots.
The Blades and Cyclones will skate again on Saturday, January 19 in Ames with a scheduled start time of 10:45 pm.
