Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. University of Wisconsin-Platteville

(Dubuque, Iowa (Mystique Community Ice Center)) Dordt College scored the only goal of the first period but gave up 5 in the second and 3 in third to fall 8-1 to the Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers. The Blades fall to 3-12 on the season while the Pioneers improve to 11-5-2
With 2 and half minutes left to play in the first period, Dordt's Eric Huitsing tallied his fifth goal of the season with assists from Eric Walter and Brandon Fast to give the Blades a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Markers at 19:16 and 18:00 minutes gave the Pioneers the lead early into the second period and another pair of goals 11 seconds apart (15:03 and 14:52) made it a 4-1 hockey game. Wisconsin-Platteville added another late in the period to take a 5-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
UWP added three more goals in the final frame for the 8-1 win. Ben Schaefer had two of the markers in the period to go along with one in the second to record the hat trick.
Riley Braun faced 48 shots in goal for the Blades and Andrew Hornick had 17 saves in picking up the win for the Pioneers.
Dordt will have 40 days off before heading to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones on January 18 and 19. Game time on Friday, January 18 is 7:00 pm and the puck will drop at 10:45 on Saturday, January 19.
