(Dubuque, Iowa (Mystique Community Ice Center)) The Dordt Blades dropped a 5-2 MACHA game in Dubuque, Iowa this evening (December 7) against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The Blades fall to 3-11 on the season while UWP improves to 11-5-2.
The Pioneers struck first with a power play goal at 15:28 in the first period but the Blades answered just over a minute later with an Eric Huitsing goal on an assist from Brandon Fast.
The Pioneers banged home two more goals in the session, enjoying a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission. UWP scored two more goals in the final five minutes of the second period to take a 5-1 lead and the Blades answered with a goal midway through the third period for the 5-2 final. The Blade goal in the third was Brandon Fast's team leading 8th goal with a helper from Eric Grootenboer.
Dordt netminder Riley Braun turned away 44 shots in goal for the Blades while Bryton Melenas made 19 saves for the Pioneers.
