Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Iowa

(Coralville, Iowa (Coral Ridge Ice Arena)) Trailing by only a goal after the first period, the Dordt Blades gave up 5 goals in the second frame in falling 7-2 to the Iowa Hawkeyes in Coralville, Iowa this evening (Friday, November 9).
The Hawkeyes struck first as Cody Ringham netted a goal eight minutes into the contest to give Iowa a one goal lead. Just 24 seconds into the second period the Hawkeyes widened their lead to 2 with a goal from Brad Drogos. Nic Enerson picked up his fourth goal of the season for Dordt College with a goal at a minute and a half later to pull the Blades within one at with 18 minutes to go in the second period. Goals for Iowa at 17:12, 7:56 and 1:42 gave the Hawkeyes a 5-1 advantage.
A goal with 31 seconds remaining in second period by Kevin Grootenboer, his first point as a Blade gave Dordt some hope but Iowa responded with a goal of their own with just 5 seconds to play in the frame to take a 6-2 lead in to the locker room.
Iowa added one more in the final period for the 7-2 MACHA victory.
Dordt's Riley Braun picked up 21 saves in the loss while Alex Wisnousky had 27 saves in goal for the Hawkeyes.
The Blades will skate against the Hawkeyes again tomorrow (Saturday, November 10) at 4:45 pm in the Coral Ridge Ice Arena.
