(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Blades enjoyed a 3-1 lead after the first period but could not survive an SDSU 5 goal outburst in the second period, dropping the contest 9-3 to the Jacks. The loss marked the second 9 goal game suffered by the Blades at the hands of SDSU, falling last night in Brookings 9-7. With the win the Jacks improve to 14-2 on the year and an unblemished 7-0 road record while the Blades drop to 6-15-2-1 for the season.

The Blades fell behind early when Hunter Anshutz scored just a little over 3 minutes in the contest in the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center to give the Jacks the 1-0 lead. Three goals in a span of 5 minutes put the Blades on top 3-1. The first of the three came from Eric Huitsing, his team leading 17th of the season, at 14:22 with an assist from Brandon Fast. Kevin Vermeer knocked home a rebound at 11:03 to get his 3rd of the season, with helpers from Prins and De Young. An unassisted goal in to the top left corner by Kevin Christian (9th) gave the Blades a 3-1 lead with 9:43 and they took that two goal lead in to the first intermission.

At 13:27 in the second period SDSU's Matt Schabaker cut the lead in half with a wobbler that found its way behind VanKeulen to make it 3-2. Dordt could not capitalize on a full two minute 5 on 3 and shortly after the power play ended Kaleb Juntunen tied the game with a goal at 10:12, just 22 seconds after the SDSU penalties had expired. Juntunen added goals at 6:27 and :32 with all three tallies coming with helpers from Snyder and Fitzer. Tim Rotert added another second period goal with two-tenths of a second left to give the Jacks a 6-3 lead.

Goals by Matt George and Hunter Anshutz made it an 8-3 game. Dordt's netminder Riley Braun was inserted in to the line up with 8 minutes and 55 seconds left in the game and just 19 seconds in to his ice time saw a great shot by Josh Snyder on a breakaway get past his glove hand for the 9-3 final.
