(Away) The Dordt Blades fell behind early and could not recover in dropping their final game of the season 6-1 to Northwestern Health Sciences University.
The Naturals tallied two goals in the first period with Oltman scoring at 15:12 and Biermeier picking up a power play goal at 5:26 to take a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.
Northwestern made it a 3-0 game with a goal from Dan Cianni at 14:11 in the second period. Eric Grootenboer got his 10th goal of the 2011-2012 campaign with a power play marker at 5:40 in the second period with assists from Nic Enerson and Brandon Fast. The 3-1 score would be as close as the Blades would get at Joe Cotton made it a 4-1 game with 5 seconds left in the second period and goals from Toft and Howe in the third period made the 6-1 final.
Nico VanKeulen made 39 saves in goal for Dordt College while Troy Otto had 52 saves in grabbing his 8th win of the season in goal for the Naturals.
This marks the end of the season for the Blades who finish with a record of 6-17-2-1 while the Naturals, who play in Division 2 of the ACHA, are now 8-5.
