Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Northwestern Health Sciences

(Away) Three straight goals in the third period propelled the Naturals past the Dordt College Blades 4-3 in ACHA hockey action in Bloomington, Minnesota this evening (February 10, 2012).

Midway through the first period, Dordt's Brandon Fast knocked in his 13th goal of the season to give the Blades a 1-0 lead. The lead would be short-lived as the Naturals tied the game with a goal just 18 seconds later and the two teams ended the first period tied 1-1.

The lone goal of the second period came with 13:10 left as Andrew De Haan scored his first goal of the season with assists from Enerson and Veldhuisen.

Dordt extended the lead to 3-1 with a power play goal from Eric Grootenboer (9th) at 10:53 in the third period with assists from Eric Walter and Brandon Fast. Joe Osborne scored for the Naturals at 9:30 to cut it to 3-2 and Dan Cianni tied the game 3-3 with a tally at 6:59. The game winner came from Zach Lundbohm with 1:43 left on assists from Joe Cotton and Aaron Howe.

Riley Braun made 37 saves in goal for Dordt College while Troy Otto turned away 33 in net for the Naturals.

With the loss the Blades fall to 6-16-2-1 for the year while the Naturals improve to 7-5. The two teams will play again tomorrow (February 11) at 10 pm in Bloomington and that contest will mark the end of the season for the Dordt College Blades.
