Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. South Dakota State

(Brookings, South Dakota) The Dordt College hockey team dropped a very competitive match to SDSU on Thursday, November 10 as the Blades fell 3-2 to the Jacks. With the loss the Blades record is now 2-6-0-1 while SDSU improves to 7-2 on the season.
Dordt College tallied the opening goal of the contest when David Prins scored his 3rd goal of the season midway through the first period to take the 1-0 lead. SDSU responded with a goal one minute later to tie it 1-1 on a marker by Connor Fitzer and the Jacks took a one goal lead on a power play goal from Matt George with 4 minutes to play in the opening period.
Early in the second period, Doug Veldhuisen go his first goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2 with assists from Eric Huitsing and Andrew De Haan. Connor Fitzer scored the game winner less than a minute when he scored his second of the night to give the Jacks the 3-2 lead.
Neither team was able to score in the third period and the Blades struggled finding the back of the Jacks net with the man advantage.
Riley Braun had 37 saves in net for Dordt College while Tyler Lawrence stopped 30 Dordt shots for the Jacks in picking up his third win of the year.
The Blades will play on Thursday, November 17 at 7:30 pm as they host Iowa State in The Clash in the Corn.
