Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Northwestern Health Sciences

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt tallied the first two goals of the night but Northwestern answered with 6 straight to take a 6-2 win over the Blades in hockey action in Sioux Center this evening.
After a scoreless first period, back to back power play goals by Dordt College in the second session gave the Blades a 2-0 lead. Eric Huitsing scored the first goal of the night with the advantage on an assist from Andrew De Young at the 15:02 mark. Less than 4 minutes later, again with the extra man, the Blades' Brandon Fast scored his 4th goal of the season to make it 2-0 with assists going to Eric Walter and Chase VanGaalen.
Forty-one seconds after Dordt took the two goal lead, Northwestern answered with a Jacob Bohnen marker to cut the advantage down to 1. The Naturals added a power play goal of their own with 3:23 remaining in the period to tie the game and with just 9 seconds left in the second got the game winning goal when Nick Moe banged one in.
The Naturals got all the insurance they would need as they tallied three times in the closing 20 minutes. Jacob Bohnen scored with 15:10 to go in the period, Aaron Howe made it 5-2 at 7:30 and Bohnen got the hat trick with his third of the night coming at the 6:03 mark.
Bohnen finished the night with 4 points on three goals and an assist while Aaron Howe had a three point night on a goal and 2 assists.
Troy Otto had 36 saves in the win for Northwestern while Dordt's Nico VanKeulen had 41 saves on 47 shots in the loss.
Both teams were effective on the power play as Dordt managed to go 2 for 4 with the advantage while Northwestern was 1 of 4.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow (Saturday, October 22) at 4:15 pm in the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center, Iowa.
