(City Arena, Albert Lea, Minnesota) In spite of a 3 point night from Dordt's Brandon Fast, the Blades dropped their opening game of the season 6-3 to Waldorf College.

Waldorf got on the board first with a tally less than 4 minutes into the first period with Corey Lorenz getting the goal on an assist from Josh Bevers. Fast tied the game with a marker coming with 2:02 remaining in the first on an assist from Chase VanGaalen to make it 1-1.

Back to back power play goals for Waldorf in the second period made it a 3-1 hockey game as Hunter Osenbaugh and Josh Bevers both scored with the man advantage and the Warriors took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

Fast's second goal of the contest, which came 3 minutes in to the third period cut the lead back down to one with the assist going to Eric Walter. Three goals by Waldorf in a span of 6 minutes put the game out of reach with Christian Weber, Joshua Bevers and Daniel Pletta each picking up a goal for Waldorf to make it a 6-2 hockey game. Jon Gesink got the final goal for the Blades to make it a 6-3 final with assists on the last goal going to Brandon Fast and Kevin Ypma.

Both teams registered 43 shots on goal with Dordt's Riley Braun picking up 37 saves in the loss while Michael Nelson had 40 saves in goal for the Warriors in the win.
