Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Colorado College

(Away: Honnen Arena) Three first period power play goals gave the Dordt Blades the great start they were looking for as they went on to pick up a 5-1 road win over Colorado College.
Dordt's leading scorer, Brandon Fast, picked up his 6th goal of the season with a power play marker at 15:49 in the first on assists from Jon Gesink and Kevin Ypma. Eric Huitsing made it 2-0 for Dordt with another goal with the man advantage, this one coming at 7:54 in the first with assists to Ypma and Andrew De Young. The final goal of the period made it a 3-0 contest as Kevin Prins score on the power play with assists again going to De Young and Ypma.
The Blades added to their 3-0 first period lead with the lone goal of the second period going to Kevin Christian, his 4th of the year, with assists from Eric Walter and Andrew De Haan.
Dordt's Kevin Christian added a 5th goal, his second of the night, with a third period goal coming with 5:15 left in the game. Colorado College ruined the shut-out bid with a Gaelen Means marker coming with 1:44 remaining in the game to make it a 5-1 final.
Kevin Ypma finished the night with three helpers for three points with Kevin Christian adding two goals, his 4th and 5th of the year.
Nico VanKeulen posted an impressive 44 saves in goal for the Blades picking up the win while Mitch Sungelo had 39 saves in goal for the Tigers.
Dordt College was 3-9 on the power play and successfully killed off all 5 of the Tiger's opportunities with the advantage.
Dordt improves to 2-5 with the win and will next play at home on November 4 against the University of South Dakota at 7:30 pm.
