Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. University of Wyoming

(Away: Laramie) The Dordt Blades surrendered 4 first period goals in dropping their first of three games in Wyoming and Colorado as the Wyoming Cowboys took the game 8-4.
The Cowboys got on the scoreboard just 30 seconds in to the contests and added another two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. Andrew De Young knocked in his first goal of the season for the Blades to cut the margin in half but Wyoming answered less than a minute later to regain the two goal cushion. The Cowboys pushed the gap to three goals with under three minutes to go in the period to take a 4-1 lead in to the first intermission.
Six minutes in to period number two saw Wyoming extend their lead to 4 on an Ethan Crockett goal to make it 5-1. The Blades rallied with back to back power play goals from Kevin Christian and Andrew De Young to make it 5-3 with 8 minutes left in the second period. Wyoming responded with back to back goals of their own to close out the period with a 7-3 lead.
The Blades' Kevin Vermeer got his first goal of the season three minutes in to the third period to make it 7-4 and less than 30 seconds later Wyoming's Sam Dielwart tallied to get the final goal of the contest with neither team scoring over the final 16 minutes of play.
Nico VanKeulen had the first 20 minutes of duty in goal for Dordt College, surrendering 4 goals with 20 saves while Riley Braun was in net for the final 40 minutes and had 38 saves and 4 goals allowed in the loss. Jordan Grove was between the pipes for the Cowboys and had 26 saves in the winning effort. The Blades fall to 1-4 with the loss and Wyoming improves to 2-2.
The Blades will play on Friday, October 28 at 9:00 pm in Fort Collins, Colorado against Colorado State University and will finish their road trip with a game against Colorado College on Saturday.
