Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Colorado State

(Epic Ice Arena, Fort Collins, Colorado) The Dordt Blades were unable to recover from a 3-1 first period deficit, falling to Colorado State 6-2 in their second game of a three game trip to Wyoming and Colorado.

The Rams struck twice in the first seven minutes of action in Fort Collins, with goals from Lammert at the 15:41 mark and Hoeler at 13:53, to take an early 2-0 lead. The Blades' Kevin Vermeer tallied for the second night in a row to cut the lead down to 2-1 but the Rams' Pekara added another with under 4 minutes to play to take a 3-1 lead in to the break.

Scott Hassler had the lone goal of the second period as the Rams extended their lead to 4-1 with a goal at 14:38.

Tommy Malone made it a 5-1 hockey game with a goal coming at 13:48 in period three. Less than two minutes later, Dordt's Brandon Fast made it 5-2 when he knocked in his team leading fifth goal of the season at 12:01 of the third. With 22 seconds remaining in the contest the Rams' Phil Brown added the last goal for the 6-2 final.

With the loss the Blades drop to 1-5 and Colorado State improves to 6-4. Dordt looks to finish their road trip on a high note with a game this evening at Colorado College.

Riley Braun spent all 60 minutes in goal for Dordt College, making 34 saves in the loss with Hayden Keiley taking the netminding duties for CSU with 22 saves in the win.

Dordt will finish their lengthy road trip with an 8:30 game against Colorado College on Saturday, October 29.
