Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. NW Health Sciences

(Away) The Blades gave up two goals in the final 4 minutes of action in dropping a 6-4 outing against Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. With the loss, the Blades fall to 5-17 on the year while the Naturals improve to 18-1 overall.
Northwestern got the first marker of the night when Zach Lundbohn made it a 1-0 game with 11:53 to play in the first period. Dordt's leading goalscorer, Brandon Fast, tied the game at 1-1 with 5:10 left in the first period with assists going to Jordan Janz and Kevin Christian. The Naturals regained the lead with a Jacob Bohnen goal with 2:56 to play and the score was 2-1 after the first period of action.
Dordt tied the game less than 5 minutes into the second period when Fast tallied again with another assist from senior Jordan Janz. The Blades then took their first lead of the contest at 10:19 when Jordan Janz got a goal of his own at 10:19 with a helper from Jon Gesink. Less than 2 minutes later the Naturals tied the game at 3-3 when Jacob Bohnen knocked in his second goal of the night at 8:42. The teams went to the second intermission deadlocked at 3-3.
Nortwestern scored quickly in the third period with Phil Toft banging in a goal at 18:35 to take the 4-3 lead. The Blades were awarded a penalty shot for a hooking call less than a minute later and Brandon Fast earned the hat trick and tied the game with the penalty shot goal at 17:37.
The teams remained knotted at 4-4 for the next 14 minutes. Joseph Osborne got the game winner for the Naturals with a power play goal with 3:19 to play in the contest and Jacob Bohnen got the Naturals some insurance while earning his hat trick marker with 1:15 to play for the 6-4 win.
Brandon Fast finished the night with 3 point on 3 goals and Jordan Janz also had 3 point on a goal and 2 assist. Jacob Bohnen led all skaters with 5 points on 3 goals and 2 assists and Josh Jensen had 3 assists for 3 points.
Dordt freshman, Riley Braun, had 37 saves in goal in the losing effort for the Blades while his counterpart, Troy Otto stopped 46 of Dordt's 50 shots for the win.
The Blades will finish off their 2010-2011 season with a 9:45 pm game against Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota on Saturday, February 5, 2011.
