Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Northwestern Health Sciences

(Sioux Center, Iowa) In spite of getting 46 saves out of freshman netminder Riley Braun, the Blades fell 4-2 to Northwestern Health Sciences University in ACHA hockey this afternoon.
Northwestern scored two goals with the first 5 minutes of play with tallies at 16:57 and 15:42. Dan Cianni banged home the first with an assist from Adam Garcia while Jake Bohnen had the second with an assist from Drew Fautsch. The Blades were outshot 20 to 3 in the first period and went to the first intermission down 2-0.
The Naturals go the scoring started in the second when Jake Bohnen got his second of the night, the one coming with the man advantage. Dordt cut the lead down to one at 3-2 with 2 goals coming less than three minutes apart. While on the power play, TJ Francis scored his second goal of the season at 10:36 with an assist from Jon Gesink. With 7:56 to go in the second period Brandon Fast tallied his 4th goal of the season with helpers from Kevin Christian and Chase VanGaalen.
The only goal of the third period came at the 9:02 mark when Aaron Howe pushed the Naturals margin back to 2 with an even strength goal set up by Baumgard and Osborne.
Riley Braun faced 50 shots on the night, turning away 46 of them for a .920 save percentage. His counterpart Trey Otto had 17 saves on 19 shots.
With the loss the Blades fall to 0-4 on the season.
Dordt will play Creighton twice next weekend with the first game being at home on Friday, October 29 at 7:30 pm and the Blades will travel to Omaha for the second game on Saturday, October 30.
