Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. University of Nebraska-Lincoln

(Lincoln, Nebraska) Dordt got two goals out of their senior captain Jordan Janz but it was not enough to stop the Huskers from taking an 8-2 victory from the Blades in an NCCHA game held in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Early on the Blades show no ill effect from the road trip as Jordan Janz tallied just 45 seconds into the contest to put Dordt on top 1-0. In the closing minutes of the period, Nebraska's top point getter, Matti Roinila, tied the game with a short handed goal with 1:34 remaining and the two teams skated to the locker room with the game knotted at a goal apiece.
In the second period Nebraska dominated play, banging home two goals in the first minute of play and adding 3 more over the final 19 minutes of the second to go into the second intermission with a commanding 6-1 lead.
Nebraska added to their advantage with two more goals in the third period at 15:02 and 9:44 to take an 8-1 lead. Jordan Janz tallied a 5 on 3 power play goal with 6:54 left in the contest to get the book end goals and make it an 8-2 final. The goals were Janz's 4th and 5th of the season with the first tally of the night being unassisted and helpers went to Jon Gesink and Brandon Fast on the second.
Nebraska's Matti Roinila finished with a hat trick and 2 assists for 5 points while Doug Engle had 2 goals and an assist for 3 points.
Nico VanKeulen had 28 saves in goal for the Blades and Chris Taylor turned away 19 of Dordt's 21 shots.
With the loss the Blades fall to 2-11 overall and 1-4 in the NCCHA.
The Blades and Huskers will play in Lincoln again tomorrow (November 20, 2010) at 4:00 pm.
