Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Iowa State

(Away) The Dordt Blades dropped their third game in a row as they fell 3-2 to the Iowa State Cyclones in a key Pacific Region match-up.
Less than 2 minutes into the contest the Cyclones got on the board with a goal from Brett Fritze at 18:21. Dordt answered back at the 13:28 mark to tie the game with a Nate Woudstra goal from Jordan Janz and Jake Esselink. With just under 3 minutes to go in the first period the Cyclones retook the lead on Scebold's first marker of the night at 2:58 and ISU took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, it would be another early goal that would cost the Blades as the eventual game winner came just 38 seconds into the frame to give ISU the 3-1 lead. Todd Bakker narrowed the gap back to one when he knocked home an unassisted goal at 14:14. After 5 goals in the first 26 minutes of action there would be no more over the final 34 minutes as the Cyclones held on for the win in the first of a 2 game set in Ames this weekend.
Ted Gibbons had 27 saves in goal for the Blades while his counterpart, Austin Maginnis had 32 saves for the Cyclones.
The Blades will play Iowa State again on Saturday, February 6 at 10:00 pm in Ames, Iowa.
