Dordt College Blades Hockey vs. Hope

(Away) After a scoreless first period in Holland, Michigan the dikes gave way and the Flying Dutchmen flooded the Dordt goal with 5 tallies en route to a 7-2 win over the Blades. The Blades fall to 1-2-1 overall this season.
In a 10 minute span, beginning with 17:06 remaining in the second and ending with 7:20 on the period clock, Hope College netted 5 goals. Brett Kopinski had the first and fourth goals while Kyle Plachta, Court Fall and Cory Gowman each had one.
In the third, Dordt played evenly with the Dutchmen once again as each team scored twice. Hope started the third with a hat-trick earning goal by Kopinski with 19:34 to go. Dordt answered with a goal from Todd Bakker with helpers going to TJ Francis and Jon Gesink at 8:29. Court Fall added his second goal of the night at the 7:45 mark in the third and TJ Francis finished off the scoring with 2:10 to go with assists from Kevin Christian and Jordan Janz.
Ted Gibbons had the netminding duties for the Blades and was credited with 37 saves on the night while David Nowicki recorded 11 saves for the Flying Dutchmen.
The Blades will return to their home ice with a pair of games against Colorado State University on Friday, October 30 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, October 31 at 4:45 pm. Both games will be played at the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center, Iowa.
