(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Blades looked to build on the momentum they created last night when they beat Air Force Academy handily 6-0 and tonight Dordt came out strong and in less than a nine minute span scored 8 goals on the visiting Mesa State Mavericks taking away any thoughts they might of had of upsetting Dordt College

Dordt scored 8 goals in the first period, 2 in the second and 6 more in the third to cruise to a dominating 16-1 victory over Mesa State, improving Dordt's record to 15-6 overall and 10-1 in NCCHA play.

The ice definitely seemed tilted toward the Mesa State goal all night but never more than the 9 minute span in the first period (stretching from 14:52 to 6:10) in which Dordt scored 8 times. If you could throw a hat on to the ice surface at the Vernon Arena there would have been lots of lidless heads as the Blades had 3 players post hat tricks including a 5 goal, 4 assist outburst by Nate Woudstra who also had a hat trick last night. Todd Bakker also scored 3 goals to go along with 5 assists and Kurtis Heerema had the final hat trick scoring 3 goals in the first period and adding two assists on the night.

The netminding duties were shared by three Dordt goalies this afternoon. Ted Gibbons started in goal for the Blades and had 3 saves in the period and no goals against. Nico VanKeulen played the second period and had 6 saves with no shots finding their way behind the young netminder. A new addition to the Dordt roster, Russ Dykshoorn played the final period in goal for Dordt giving up the only go on the night while making two saves. The Dordt netminders faced 12 shots on goal while Kyle Roffe for the Mavericks had 36 saves with 52 shots on goal.
