(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender golf team stands 11th after day one of the Siouxland Invite. The two day event played round one at The Ridge in Sioux Center with day two scheduled to be played at Landsmeer in Orange City on Saturday, September4.
Golfers fought windy and cool conditions most of the day with the low man for the day coming in with a 75. Dave Young (Morningside)posted the score on a day when scores in the 70's were rare.
Dordt was topped by Ryan Kamp's and Jon Holwerda's 85s. Brandon McCracken shot an 86 and Kevin Fopma came home in 93. Dordt was without the services of three-time all-GPAC performer Jordan Janz who is out for the event with an injury.
Golfers will tee off at 8:30 on Saturday in Orange City. Dordt's lowest score came from Derek Fox, golfing for the junior varsity squad. The freshman put up an 83. Northwestern has the day one lead with a 311 and Morningside is second in 321.
