Dordt College Men's Golf at GPAC Qualifier #2

(Lincoln, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender golf team shot a 321 on Thursday in the second round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference men's golf event, holding seventh place in the four round event that will resume in the spring. The event was hosted by Doane College at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course, a par 71, 7107 yard facility.

Dordt was led by Jared Rempel (senior; Chilliwack, British Columbia) with a 73 which was highlighted by an eagle on a par-four hole. Rempel holed out on his second shot on the 440 yard hole from 120 yards out with a 60-degree wedge to save his 73. Rempel tied for second for the day and is in fourth place, five shots off the lead halfway through the event.

Jordan Janz (sophomore; Denver, Colorado) broke 80 with a 79 and is in 19th place overall with a 157. Collin Broekhuis (senior; Edgerton, Minnesota) recorded an 80 and has a two-round total of 162 and Ryan Kamp (freshman; Tinley Park, Illinois) shot an 89. Kamp and Brad Evenson (Buhler, Kansas) have two day round totals of 170.

Dakota Wesleyan went low compared to the rest of the field for the second time in the event with a 297 and Nebraska Wesleyan shot a 304 for the day. Dakota Wesleyan is in first place by 19 strokes with a 586 and Nebraska Wesleyan shot a 605. Third through ninth place in the team race are relatively close, separated by a total of 18 strokes. Dordt is seventh overall with a 635.

Menís qualifiers #3 and #4 will be played in the spring at Hastings and Morningside.

GPAC Menís Qualifier #1 was played in Mitchell, South Dakota, at Wild Oak on September 6.

The winner of the four qualifiers (lowest stroke total) advances to the NAIA Menís National Golf Championships and the medalist (unless on the winning team) will also advance. The medalist winner must play in all four GPAC events.
