Dordt College Men's Golf at GPAC Conference Meet

The Dordt College Defender men's golf team worked on Tuesday, April 24 for a six-stroke improvement in day two at the Great Plains Athletic Conference golf championships for a two-day total of 620. Pushing the Defenders to fourth in the final standings and locking up a berth in the NAIA Region III golf tournament in Fargo, North Dakota on April 30 and May 1. The Defenders got a second day score of 73 from Jason Kroese while Jared Rempel and Ryan Trosper shot a 76 and 78 respectively. Collin Broekhuis had an 80 on day two and Matt Zwart and 82.
Kroese recorded a total score of 151 and Rempel a 152 while Trosper put together a 158. Zwart and Broekhuis were at 161 and 162 respectively. When scoring the event four low scores from each day are counted.
Nebraska Wesleyan won their fourth straight GPAC title with a two day total of 584 and placed all five golfers in the top-10. Midland Lutheran finished second in 588 and Sioux Falls was third in 618. Morningside shot a 622 for fifth place and Hastings got the final available spot for the regional meet with a 624. Northwestern placed seventh with 625 and Briar Cliff a 633. Concordia shot a 634 and Doane a 641. Dakota Wesleyan took eleventh with a total of 648.
Par at the Elmwood Golf Course where the GPAC meet washeld was 72 with a total yardage of 7186.
This is the second straight year the Dordt College golf team has qualified for the regional meet.
