Dordt College Football vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Lincoln, Nebraska) The Dordt College football team lost a 21-0 Great Plains Athletic Conference decision to the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves on Saturday in a game featuring two teams that entered the game with 0-3 records.

Wesleyan's first score came after they had fumbled the ball away at the Dordt 10 and Matt Postmus recovered. Dordt, on the ensuing possession, surrendered a Justin Knot interception and Zac Hoy raced 28 yards for the score to make it 7-0.

The two teams traded punts and battled for field position with Dordt eventually catching a break when Wesleyan fumbled at their own 30 yard line. Brice Kroeze forced the fumble and Henry Byl covered it with 2:06 left in the half. Dordt missed on the opportunity with Micah Twedell losing the ball on the first play of the Dordt drive and the scored stayed 7-0 into half.

The 7-0 score stood until early in the fourth when a Twedell pass was picked off by Hoy at the Wesleyan 32 and he went the distance for his second touchdown of the game. The Prairie Wolves put the game away with an 80 yard drive after Dordt was forced to punt, scoring the third touchdown of the game with 5:40 left in the game on a Steve Fricke two yard run.

Dordt ran for 124 yards and allowed 195. Dordt passed for 145 yards and Wesleyan had 128. Wesleyan outgained Dordt by a 323-269 margin. Josh Van Kempen ran for 87 yards on 16 carries and Twedell had 26 yards on seven rushes. Twedell completed 14-23 passes in relief of Knot who was injured late in the first half of the game. Josh Mouw caught seven passes for 46 yards and Sam Du Mez caught four passes for 74 yards.

Steve Fricke had 76 yards for Nebraska Wesleyan and Dustin Bryant had 50 yards.

Daniel Finely had four solo and eight assisted tackles for the Defenders while Jordan Huisman had three solos and seven assists. Matt Postmus and Henry Byl each had fumble recoveries and Jon Luetchens had one interception.

Dordt falls to 0-4 overall and will host Briar Cliff on Saturday, October 2 at 1:00.
