Dordt College Football vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Yards were hard to come by for the Dordt College Defender football team as they lost a 30-3 Great Plains Athletic Conference match up with Briar Cliff on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. The win was Briar Cliff's third of the season while the Defenders are still looking for a conference win to go with a non-conference win from earlier this season.

Dordt turned the ball over early in the first quarter and allowed Briar Cliff a short field to work with and punched the ball across on their second play of a 13 yard drive with Andrew Prohaska getting ti in on a nine yard run. Briar Cliff's second drive was a 99 yard, nine play excursion that again ended with Prohaska getting in the end zone from 11 yards out.

Up 14-0 the Chargers made it a 20-0 halftime score with Luke Roder reeling in a 25 yard pass from Lehi Tonga.

The two teams traded field goals in the third period with Briar Cliff getting a 31 yarder from Josh McKean and Dordt countered with a 47 yard field goal by Reuben Faber that was set up by an Andy Mitchell interception and return.

The Chargers finished the scoring with a 60 yard drive with 9:27 left in the game as Prohaska scampered in for his third touchdown of the game.

Briar Cliff outgained the Defenders 450-29 and had the ball for 41:34 to Dordt's 18:26.

Dordt's Aaron Floen got 20 yards on five carries and Matt Postmus had five solo and eight assisted stops. Brice Kroeze had six solo stops and two assisted tackles with three quarterback sacks. Jordan Huisman and Jon Luetchens accounted for four solo stops each and Huisman had five assists.

Briar Cliff was led by Stavhn Leavy with 22 rushes for 104 yards while Damien Eichelberger and Andrew Prohaska had 86 and 82 yards each.

Dordt falls to 0-8 in the league and 1-8 overall while Briar Cliff improves to 3-5 in the conference and 3-6 overall.

Dordt will travel to Sioux Falls next week Saturday to face the Cougars at 1:00 on November 7.
