Dordt College Football vs. Midland Lutheran

(Fremont, Nebraska) The Midland Lutheran Warriors used a potent ground attack to defeat the Dordt College Defenders in football play on Saturday afternoon in GPAC play in Fremont, Nebraska. The Warriors controlled the football and the clock in the second and third periods for the 27-0 win.
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie through one quarter with the hosts getting on the board early in the second quarter on a run around the left end by Eric Hart, punching the ball in from the 15 to cap a 10 play, 55 yard drive for a 7-0 lead after the kick. Midland Lutheran scored again at the 5:16 mark of the quarter when Terence Maahs kept it for a one yard plunge to end a grind it out drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock and was 17 plays long.
Dordt moved the ball on their next drive but a Scotty Walden pass inside the Midland Lutheran 25 was batted and picked off with :29 left in the half. Midland Lutheran returned to near midfield and the Warriors got close enough to try a 46 yard field goal that was good as time expired for a 17-0 lead.
Midland Lutheran then got another field goal with 12:38 left in the third quarter and Terence Maahs ended the scoring with a 19 yard touchdown run with 2:35 left in the third.
Dordt had one more drive end in Midland Lutheran territory on a second interception.
Dordt was outgained 386-125 with the Warriors getting all but 37 of their yards on the ground.
Dordt's Ben Robbins had 15 carries for 37 yards and Lonnie Seigers had six carries for 16 yards. Walden completed 7-16 passes for 64 yards with three catches by Chris Minnema. Derek Raebel caught a pass for 24 yards.
Isaiah Busby got credit for 11 solo tackles and Matt Postmus had six and Eric Torgerson five along with James Rowenhorst. Jake Dykstra picked off a pass and Cody Browder had a fumble recovery.
Midland Lutheran was led on the ground by the punishing style of Brandon Brooks. The fullback had 19 carries for 128 yards and the quarterback, Terence Maahs had 18 rushes for 91 yards.
Dordt is 1-5 in the GPAC and 1-7 overall while Midland Lutheran improves to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.
Dordt hosts Doane on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00.
